The November 4 Book Club meeting will feature Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese, the close runner-up in our October book preference poll. Professor Peter Strauss has agreed to lead an online discussion of this acclaimed novel. The first novel by a doctor who has risen to the top of Stanford Medical School’s faculty, a semi-autobiographical account of medical education in Ethiopia, India, and the United States, and then hospital experience here. Register for the November 4 Book Club meeting!
| | The December 2 Book Club selection is Crucible by John Sayles, the top choice in our ranked-choice poll of four novels. Set in Detroit from the 1920s through the 1940s, this historical novel explores Henry Ford’s industrial empire against a backdrop of labor disputes, racial tensions, and an ill-fated rubber plantation in the Amazon. | | Stretch and Strengthen with EPIC Yoga | | | |
