MORE (WIND) POWER TO AZUSA! The City of Azusa will purchase 30 Megawatts (MW) wind energy from a wind project located in North Palm Springs under a 25-year power purchase agreement. “The project is located in a well-established wind resource area, which will provide Azusa customers with a long-term supply of clean, reliable, and competitively priced energy well into the future,” said Manny Robledo, Azusa’s Director of Utilities. Starting 2022, the energy purchased from the Mesa RP30 Wind Energy Center, owned by Brookfield Renewable Partners, will provide approximately 50% of the electricity served to Azusa residents and businesses and will increase Azusa’s renewable energy portfolio to over 80% for several years starting in 2022 and 67% sustainably after 2030.

UTILITY MODERNIZATION PROJECT

As part of its continuing efforts to improve utility services to its customers, Azusa Light & Water (ALW) has embarked on a project to modernize the method by which water and electric usage is measured. The project includes replacing all water and electric meters with new, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), meters that will be read remotely instead of having to send someone to your home or business each month to read the meter(s). What are the advantages of AMI? OUTSTANDING SMALL PROJECT AWARD

Azusa Light & Water (ALW) is excited to receive the Outstanding Small Project of the Year Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers Los Angeles Branch. The winning project will bring additional water supply from the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District (SGVMWD) to be treated at the Hsu Filtration Plant especially during the time of drought.
