City Response to State Recommendations
Regarding COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus)
The City of Aliso Viejo has been closely monitoring the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and is actively communicating with the Orange County Health Care Agency and the California Department of Public Health to set forth precautionary measures in a timely manner due to the fluidity of the situation. Under the guidance of State recommendations, and out of an abundance of caution, the City has set forth the following mitigation measures in an effort to reduce the potential exposure and spread of COVID-19 to our residents and workforce:
City Hall will close to the public, effective March 16, 2020 through March 20, 2020. City staff will continue to remain available via email and telephone.
The State of the City event originally scheduled for April 2, 2020 has been cancelled. In lieu of the event, the video will be broadcast during the City Council meeting on April 15, and will be available to stream online at AVCity.org on the same date beginning at 7pm. The meeting will also be available to view on Cox Communications Channel 851 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.
The Aquatic Center has closed through the end of March, and all classes have been cancelled until further notice. Additional information will be sent regarding billing and rescheduling to current participants.
All Recreation programs are cancelled through April 5. City staff will begin issuing partial refunds for remaining class meetings and will email receipts to those who are currently enrolled. Participants do not need to request a refund; refunds will be automatically provided to those affected. A decision will be made by March 31 for all classes beginning in April.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley, Aliso Viejo Branch will be closed starting March 16, 2020. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley will reopen to serve members once Capistrano Unified School District operations resume.
The Senior Mobility program is currently suspended until further notice.
Orange County Public Libraries has cancelled all library programs, classes and events effective immediately through April 30, 2020. The library will remain open for public access with regular hours of operation.
The City will continue to evaluate the situation and may extend, cancel, revise or add to these measures as the situation evolves. We understand that some of these measures may be an inconvenience to our residents, and we thank you for your understanding during this time. The health and safety of our residents is our first priority, and the City will continue to communicate the latest information and details as they emerge.
