The City of Niceville recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Miracle League Field and All-Inclusive Playground at Meigs Park to the teamwork between Okaloosa County, the City of Niceville and the state legislature, this park, when complete, will serve all children including those with intellectual disabilities and special needs.

WM recently held a ribbon cutting for their new Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) where all curbside recycling is processed. Once processed, the items are taken to regionally located facilities to be turned into new cardboard and new containers. Be sure you know how to recycle right.

When recycling right, just stick to the basics and follow these three simple rules:

- 𝑹𝙪𝒍𝙚 #1 Recycle clean bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard. If your item does not fall into one of those categories throw it out

- 𝑹𝙪𝒍𝙚 #2 Keep Food and Liquid out of your recycling. This can cause contamination making your recyclables unable to be processed at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).

- 𝑹𝙪𝒍𝙚 #3 NO loose plastic bags and NO bagged recyclables. Plastic bags can cause serious mechanical failures inside a MRF. Instead bring your plastic bags to a store drop off where they can be properly recycled.

• Inspect treats before eating and avoid homemade or unwrapped items.

• Remind children not to enter strangers’ homes or cars.

• Drivers should drive slowly and remain alert, especially in residential areas.

• Watch for children crossing the street, as they may be more difficult to see in costumes.
