Quick Update - watch for Frankford construction & DART work in Preston Green Park!

Friday, December 16 - DART Cotton Belt/Silver Line Work at the Preston Green Park to prepare for the walking trail bridge is beginning. Heavy equipment was moved to the area without notice or proper safety protocols. We have asked for work to stop until a fence is installed to provide safety to our children and residents in the park. Their goal is to clear the path. Drilling will begin in January. DART will also be removing trees in the Wester Way alley on Friday.

Friday, December 16, City Hall on the Go! Truck at Renner Frankford Library, 10:30-1pm. This outreach team can help you with nearly any issue.

Friday, December 16, Walk-in Office Hours, 2 - 4 pm at the North Central Police Station community room. Come get help with a city problem, ask a question or give input or just say "hi." We have a limited number of free tickets to the Arboretum for D12 residents who stop by - we'll give them out until they are gone!

Saturday, December 17, Tree planting at Timberglen Park, 9 am. Volunteers are welcome. Bring gardening gloves and your favorite shovel if you have one!

Monday, December 19, Reconstruction of Frankford Road between Preston and Hillcrest begins. This construction will take approximately 6 months. Four lanes of traffic will remain open. When this segment is complete, work will begin on Frankford between Hillcrest and Coit. It will also take approximately 6 months. When the reconstruction of the road is complete, new high-tech traffic signals from Coit to Campbell will be installed along Frankford.

Saturday, December 31, New Year's Eve - at 11:59 p.m. CDT, the Reunion ball will host a 360-degree, panoramic fireworks spectacular and light up the Dallas skyline. The fireworks spectacular will benefit Children's Health via the Reunion Tower NYE Foundation again this year. ⁣You can watch in person downtown, tune in on Facebook or YouTube Livestream or watch live on NBC 5! Monday Trash Day

District 12 is experiencing a high number of missed trash pick-ups with the switch in the Sanitation Department schedule. Thank you to all that called 311 to report your missed trash or put in a service request through the Dallas Sanitation app. If you reported it and called Luis, he is tracking the requests. I have spoken with the Assistant City Manager over the department and shared the problems we are having. He is looking into the situation to better serve you. A large percent of the homes appear to be sites were the department picks up the trash from the front, instead of an alley. They are working to figure out why that is happening. Until they get the process fixed, if you report missed service and don't get someone to come out the following day, please let Luis know. His email is luis.delgado@dallas.gov.

Pickleball

Pickleball in the cooler temps will get a bit easier with new wind screens. They will be installed before the end of the first week in January. The parks department is also installing some new concrete on the grassy area right behind the pickleball benches. This should be done by the end of January, assuming we have dry and reasonably warm weather. Shout out to Lane Conner, D12 Park Board Rep for getting this done and many thanks to all the pickleball enthusiasts for your suggestions and passion for the game!
