Sept. 4, 2020

Dear Students:

We hope you’ve had a successful first week back to learning. As a reminder and for planning purposes, please see the Academic Calendar for all official Fall 2020 semester scheduling details.

We realize there has been some confusion regarding the fall schedule and student breaks due the information in the 2020-2021 student planners. Please note that the planners went to print before the country, let alone Trocaire College, knew the full implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The website and academic calendar reflect the changes Trocaire made for reopening under NYS guidance over the summer, including the cancellation of the October break and the extension of the Thanksgiving break—this will allow students an entire week off from classes before pivoting to 100% online learning for the remainder of the semester following Thanksgiving.

To review:
  • The college will be closed on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 7). No classes will be held.
  • There is no October mid-semester break.
  • There are no classes Monday, Nov. 23-Friday, Nov. 28. Please note that college offices are open Nov. 23-25.
  • Following the Thanksgiving break, all courses meeting on campus will switch to remote delivery until the end of the term on Dec. 21. While the campus will remain open to access support and administrative services, courses will be fully in the remote format. Clinical placements will continue at their assigned sites until the end of the semester.

While you enjoy the Labor Day weekend, please continue your vigilance to keep one another safe with social distancing, hand washing and mask-wearing. Help keep us able to have classes on campus and keep the region and our Trocaire family safe. If you have not yet signed the Trocaire Trust community pledge, please take this opportunity to do so and show your care for one another.

Thank you,
