A LETTER FROM ASBCS

"To improve public education in Arizona by sponsoring charter schools that provide quality educational choices"

We Want to Hear from You!

Reminder: Feedback Sought on Financial Performance Framework

In July 2019, the Board implemented its current Financial Performance Framework. With nearly three audit cycles now completed, Board staff is seeking stakeholder feedback on the financial framework measures, including the measure targets and how the measures are calculated. During fiscal year 2023, Board staff anticipates bringing to the Board proposed changes to the financial framework’s measures based on feedback received from stakeholders and charter leaders.

Staff would appreciate your feedback on the question below.

What would you change about the current financial framework measures and why?

Please send your responses to charterschoolboard@asbcs.az.gov by August 6, 2022.

Thank you!

Teacher Input Application (TIA)

Opening for 2022-2023

From the Arizona Department of Education

The Arizona Department of Education is pleased to announce that the Teacher Input Application (TIA) has officially opened for the 2022-2023 school year. TIA can be accessed through the ADE Common Log-In Portal by clicking the link. This email will contain important information about completing the TIA process and new updates to the system. All data must be submitted and verified by November 15th, 2022, for the 2022-2023 school year.

Response to HB2023, 2021 Legislative Session

You may now add required positions for classified staff in the Teacher Input Application. The LEA Support Guide has been updated to include information on conducting this process. If you need a reference to HB2023, you can locate the bill by clicking HERE.

Updates to TIA for 2022-2023

The Arizona Department of Education made significant updates to the Teacher Input Application for the 2020-2021 school year.

  • Open Date: The TIA system will no longer have a delayed opening date that typically occurred in September. TIA is now open, and LEAs may start entering their teacher and classified data.
  • Due Date: In recognition of the obligations related to the COVID-19 situation, the initial due date for TIA was moved to December 15th for School Years 20-21 and 21-22. However, due to state reporting requirements, this date was required to be moved to November 15th, 2022, as in years past. It is also recommended that LEAs submit certified data by October 15th, 2022, and complete data entry by November 15th, 2022.
  • Administrative Contacts Roll Over: Based on feedback from the field, LEA and site administrator contacts will roll over. You will need to update the position/role of each contact, but you should not have to enter the contact information. You will need to remove and add administrator contracts if someone new is fulfilling the roles.

Accessing TIA

The LEA can access the Teacher Input Application through the Common Log On. Only LEA entity administrators have the authority to add or remove authorized users. The LEA can locate entity administrators on the Entity Administrator Portal. If an entity administrator needs to add/remove users to have TIA access, the administrator will need to submit a ticket through the External Help Desk.

TIA Support in 22-23

The Teacher Input Application Guidance document is updated and reflects changes to the system, including the classified reporting requirements. LEAs can access this technical assistance document under TIA resources on the ADE Title II-A page.

  • A Micro-Training is currently available on the Title II-A page under TIA resources. This overview video provides general information and support regarding the TIA system.
  • COP Overview Presentation: At our fall COP scheduled for September 29, 2022, there will be a session on the Teacher Input Application with an opportunity for questions and support.
  • Professional Learning Hour: In September, the Educator and School Excellence Unit will host two Professional Learning Hours on Teacher Input Application. These sessions provide a 10–15-minute overview followed by break-out rooms for LEA support and more individualized needs. Dates will be provided soon, and your Educator and School Excellence Program Specialist will send more information to your LEA contacts.
  • LEA Program Specialist: The LEA Title I/II Program Specialists are available to support the TIA process. The program specialist assigned to each LEA is accessible at this site, Title I/II Specialist. Title I/II department contacts are located on the Educator and School Excellence web page.
  • If your LEA does not participate in Title I/II programming, you may email educatorandschoolexcellence@azed.gov, and a TIA support specialist will contact you.

2022-2023 School and Child Care Resources

From the Arizona Immunization Program Office (AIPO)

Welcome back to a new school year!

The Arizona Immunization Program Office (AIPO) has two websites dedicated to school immunization information. The Child Care, School & College home webpage links immunization requirements and forms, the Immunization Data Reports (IDR), immunization education material, and college information. The State & National Immunization Coverage Data - Home webpage links the Arizona school and child care immunization data and the National Immunization Coverage Data. The resources on both web pages can help you manage your child care or school health office immunization program.

Immunization Requirements and Forms

All child care and school documents have been reviewed/revised for the new school year. Please visit the Immunization Requirements and Forms page for helpful documents like:

  • Arizona Immunization Handbook for Schools & Child Care Programs
  • Vaccine Catch-up Flowcharts and FAQs
  • School & Child Care ASIIS User Training Slides
  • Guides to Arizona Immunizations Required for Entry for both Child Care or Preschool and Grades K-12
  • Screening and Referral Forms for Child Care or Preschool and Grades K-12
  • Immunization Exemption Forms
  • Links to Arizona Statutes and Rules
  • Healthy KIDS AZ App and the AZ infectious Disease Resource App
  • And more information, forms, and links

Immunization Education Course

Many schools/districts continue participating in the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) online Immunization Education Course (IEC). The IEC is for grades K-12 only to obtain a Personal Beliefs Exemption form. The AIPO has a dedicated webpage for the Immunization Education Course. If you are not a participant and would like more information, visit the webpage.

Immunization Data Report (IDR)

Visit the Immunization Data Report website for information and helpful slide sets that explain how to complete the annual report. Questions may be directed to azidr@azdhs.gov.

Immunization Coverage Data

Data obtained through the annual IDR is posted on the Immunization Coverage Data website. On this website, you can search for coverage data for schools and child care facilities for current and past years, for child care, kindergarten, 6th grade, and by county and school.

Arizona State Immunization Information System (ASIIS)

The ASIIS homepage provides information on frequently asked questions, training, and enrollment. When you click on the Enrollment link, it takes you to a page to enroll for access (view) only and the link to the enrollment application. When filling out the application, the third section asks you what program your facility participates in, select “none of the above.” You will then see a drop-down list to indicate which type of school program you are affiliated with. For more questions about ASIIS access or viewing, please call the help desk at 602-364-3899 or 877-491-5741 or email ASIISHelpdesk@azdhs.gov.

The Arizona Immunization Program Office (AIPO) has clinical staff to assist with your immunization questions (or contact your local county health department).

We hope you have a great and safe new school year!

Pre-Hire Discipline Check Reminder

Prior to hiring both certified and non-certified educators, schools are required to check the Arizona Department of Education’s (ADE) public-facing and internal systems for possible discipline or open investigations for immoral or unprofessional conduct.

To assist schools, the Board is providing a list of many of the educators who were disciplined at the most recent meeting. Please note that this information is only a snapshot of most educators who were disciplined at the most recent Board meeting and does not, in and of itself, satisfy the requirement for schools to check ADE’s systems described above prior to hiring. Because educators have the right to appeal their disciplinary action, there may be an approximately 30-day lag in reporting some disciplinary action.
