Dear GMAR Members,
Earlier this week we started Black History Month. As President Gerald Ford said in 1976 when he officially recognized Black History Month, we need to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” As REALTORS® his words are a reminder that we have to uphold the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Fair Housing laws every day.
We’re coming up fast on REALTOR® & Government Day, next Wednesday, February 9th. It’s back in person and always a great opportunity to meet with lawmakers and advocate for our profession face-to-face. For more info, click here.
2022 is a license renewal year. Remember your license is through the State of Wisconsin and your REALTOR® membership is through the GMAR. So, get a head start on the 18 hours of CE each of us needs before December 14th to keep our license. A great way to start is by checking out the WRA’s Continuing Education website. This is a great time of year to get a head start on your CE.
Finally, I attended the WRA Directors meeting last week and there was a lot of discussion surrounding three areas they plan to concentrate on in 2022: Local Advocacy, focusing on broker and industry needs; Professionalism, improve member professional behavior through effective messaging, enhanced training and use of professional standards services; and, Member Experience, create a new department of consumer and member experience, focusing on world class service to consumers and members. I’m looking forward to see it all roll out.
Thank you for being a GMAR member.

Kim Curtis
2022 Chairwoman of the Board
