JACKIE MICKELSON GIFTS $20,000 TO THE YOUTH FOUNDATION
The GMAR sadly learned that 1988 GMAR President, Jackie Mickelson, had passed-away. The Youth Foundation was very special to Jackie. Her efforts in the 1980s contributed to the success of today’s Foundation.
Jackie was a popular leader at GMAR and was well loved and respected by her fellow agents and the GMAR staff. She will be missed.

GMAR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY WEBINAR
The GMAR’s Equal Opportunity Committee will host a webinar on Wedesday, July 22 nd at 2:00 PM to discuss the current issues in our industry regarding fair housing and the renewed focus on social justice and how that relates to housing. GMAR members are welcome to participate.

Areas of discussion (but not limited to) will be as follows:

  • What should the role of the Realtor (GMAR Member) be in a new world focus on equal rights and social justice?

  • What do you think organized real estate can do to support these issues?

  • Are any of you aware of blatant or subtle discriminatory practices by other Realtors?

  • Have you personally experienced or witnessed discrimination as a Realtor?

  • What issues have you experienced that have destabilized your business or the market place relative to the current environment?

  • What positive messages have you learned regarding the new focus on racism in America that may help your business?

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
SENTRILOCK CONFUSION OVER NEW APP
It has been brought to our attention by several members that there is some confusion going around with regards to the new SentriConnect app.

All members of GMAR should be using the SentriKey Real Estate app to handle their lockboxes and listings. That has not changed.

The SentriConnect app is for non-members who need access to properties since they do not have access to the SentriKey app; similar to a one-day code. The main difference is that using SentriConnect is more secure and you can give that person prolonged access up to two weeks instead of just one day.

If you are a member who still needs to get their credentials please email Emily Simonelli.
SE WI EMERGENCY SUPPORT GROUP
GMAR member Rochelle Gamauf and her team at the SE WI Emergency Support Group are still moving forward in their efforts to help those in need.  We are making a difference going on 17 weeks!!    Each week they deliver   450 pounds of donated food, personal care, pet supplies and household items to families in need.  Their efforts evolved into an official not-for-profit organization and obtained their 501C3 status. At this time they are actively transitioning into a "choice pantry". This new format will allow families the flexibility to shop and order available items online in addition to meals.

As they continue to expand their services, a few temporary changes have been made to stay compliant with necessary regulations.  The home-cooked meals have been placed on hold, however they have explored alternative ways to get the home-cooked meal concept to their families via a meal kit.  This kit contains everything the family needs to prepare a home-cooked meal. By providing these kits they hope to encourage families to learn to cook or expand their current skills and have more interaction within the family unit. Her team has found that families can cook on their own but still need the right ingredients and maybe a little positive encouragement. Right now, they are looking to secure a commercial kitchen. Once this is obtained, they can purchase food in bulk and lower the cost per kit. This will go a long way to helping even more people.

We still need your help and there are 3 ways in which you can do so.
  1. Please make a donation through the GoFundMe page to help pay for the food purchsed each week for the meal kits.
  2. Donate items needed to the specified drop off locations.
  3. Volunteer to help with collections, delivery, weekly prep or administrative assistance.

Our GMAR members have really stepped up and shown their support to their local communities and we hope to see this continue.
