Singh named director of India Gateway

Shambhavi Singh has joined Ohio State as the next India Gateway director in Mumbai. Singh will be responsible for overseeing Ohio State’s strategic engagement in India and managing the local staff in achieving the goals and priorities of the Global Gateways and the Office of International Affairs. She has years of experience working at national and sub-national policy levels with national and international research organizations and has organized national and state level consultations and workshops for national level public and private sector leaders.

India Gateway and FNDR co-hosted international conference in Bangalore

The Foundation for Neglected Disease Research (FNDR) in Bangalore and the India Gateway hosted the “International Conference on Recent Advancements on TB and HIV Research” on January 11. The conference brought together faculty, clinicians, regulators, entrepreneurs and practitioners to share scientific information in Bangalore.

Ohio State College of Medicine professor Shu Hua Wang and alumnus Shridhar Narayanan, PhD ‘96, pharmacology, Founder and CEO, FNDR, spearheaded the conference planning alongside Vishwajeet Phopale, business development specialist, India Gateway.

Fisher Dean Makhija visits India

Fisher College of Business Dean Anil Makhija visited India in November to expand and enhance relationships with partners. His meeting with representatives from prominent hospitals sparked interest in clinical operational excellence training programs for resident doctors. Makhija also took time to meet with alumni in Delhi and Mumbai. Since 2015 and under Makhija’s leadership, Fisher has broadened the reach of the college’s research and expertise to the Indian Subcontinent.

Nair earns 2022 Pay It Forward Award

Founding president of the Alumni Club of India, Akshay Nair '03 was awarded the 2022 Pay It Forward Award by The Ohio State University Alumni Association. Under his leadership, the club has earned Scarlet status each year since its inception in 2018. During 2022, Nair supported the creation of the Alumni Club of South India and he called more than 100 incoming first-year Indian students to welcome them to the Buckeye family. Nair attended multiple college fairs in Northern India and engaged with numerous prospective students. He also supported the India Gateway with alumni engagement.

RIYA Scholars: excellence in undergraduate research experience continues

The Ohio State University’s Research Internship for Young Academics (RIYA) program facilitates cutting-edge research experiences for undergraduate mechanical engineering students from top institutes in India. Established in 2014, the prestigious RIYA program is seeking candidates with exceptional research aptitude. Participants work closely with renowned faculty in Ohio State’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, along with a world-class research team.
