Home Improvement
Reviewing what you grew last year now will pay off when it’s time to head outside.

Marketing
From direct mail to email and now social media, direct marketing has come a long way and is accelerating at an even faster pace. The pace has also led to changes in the algorithms and business models of social networks themselves, so that brands need to be adaptable and agile to connect with their target audiences.

Wellness
A stress-filled year has taken its toll on staff. However, organizations that can improve employee happiness will benefit from increased productivity and engagement.
Reminder Regarding Rental Permits
If you are working with rentals, be sure that before you publish any listings you:
  1. Know the Town and Village Codes: there may be rental permits required. Contact the Town and Village buildings departments for permit requirements.
  2. Keep up to date: Before listing any rentals, be sure that rental permits and documentation are valid and up to date.
  3. Ensure your rentals displayed on IDX contain the required information: If you participate in the IDX, be sure that all rental permits, rental permit numbers, and documentation are valid and up to date because your listings will be displayed on other licensees’ websites!
To avoid any penalties or fees, be mindful that your listings are legal!

State Senate Moves Fair Housing Bills Out of Committee; NYSAR Provides Comment
Following the Senate’s investigative report on fair housing, this week the state Senate passed a package of fair housing-related bills in the Senate Judiciary and Rules Committees (watch the committee meeting here and view a list of the bills with descriptions here.) Prior to the Senate advancing the bills out of committee, NYSAR staff met with lead sponsors Sens. James Skoufis, Brian Kavanagh, and Kevin Thomas. Following direction from NYSAR’s Legislative Committee, NYSAR staff provided comment to Senators and staff supporting some provisions and bills while opposing others. The Senate intends to pass the package of bills on the floor next week while the Assembly has not taken action on any legislation yet.
