If you struck out on drawing a 2023 elk tag and want to hunt elk this year, look no farther. This outfitter’s success rate on big bulls is phenomenal, and he has several landowner tags available!

They specialize in guided hunts. In 2022 they had a 92% success rate on rifle hunts. Muzzleloader was 90% with the 2 unsuccessful hunters missing shots on 300” plus bulls. You won’t find a better place to have a legitimate chance on 300” bulls with archery tackle, but be advised you have to take advantage when the opportunity arises. In 2022 he had 14 of 26 archery hunters tag their bull. However, 10 hunters wounded bulls that were not recovered, with one hunter passing several bulls looking for a monster. One hunter had no shot opportunities. As you can see by the numbers, this is an amazing rate for shot opportunities on bulls that average in the 280”-290” range, with much bigger taken every year.

Located in the Northwest part of New Mexico, hunts are conducted in Units 2, 5A, 5B, 6A, 6C and 7 on both public and private lands. Hunters flying would arrive in Albuquerque, rent a car and drive the one and a half hours to camp. Each of his hunt areas have the option of tent camp or ranch house accommodations, depending on your preference. Hotel/motel accommodations are also possible.

It is a 6-day hunt from a horseback pack-in tent camp in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness/Clearwater National Forest (Unit 12), plus a day in and a day out. You will be paired with another single hunter to hunt together 2x1.

Bulls will average 250”-280”, but they do get some 300+” on occasion. Shot opportunity runs 30%-50%.

This charter captain offers both guided fishing and DIY hunting, so you can do a very affordable cast & blast, taking up to 3 Sitka blacktails, plus halibut and some trout and salmon. Many lodges charge $5,000 and up for such a trip, but not this place!

The well-known Karluk River is famous for its heavy runs of king, sockeye and silver salmon, plus steelhead. Silvers run 8 to 20 pounds and good anglers can bag 10 to as many as 30 of these bright and feisty beauties in a day. The kings are also good sized, ranging from 20 to 40 pounds and some up to 55 pounds. The smaller sockeye are 4 to 12 lbs. In the saltwater on his charter boat, you can catch halibut, multiple species of salmon, lingcod and rockfish.

As for the hunting, you can literally hunt blacktails by walking out the back door, or he can boat you to some hot spots. And they also offer many unique waterfowl species.

Here is a unique opportunity from one of our Indiana outfitters. This lodge is on a major coral atoll 30 miles offshore of Belize, with hundreds of square miles of some of the finest wading flats of crystal clear water anywhere. This outfitter has been in business over 20 years, and they are offering an amazing deal for 2023. Simply choose one of their three trophy bull packages, and then add a Cape buffalo cow “on the house”, for yourself or a second hunter (great bonus opportunity for a child or spouse; daily hunting rates would apply). And don’t think for a moment that cows are easier to hunt. In fact, cows may be trickier, as they are usually found in bigger herds.

These hunts take place on a 9,500-acre preserve in the Zululand bushveld of South Africa (accessed via Johannesburg), with wide valleys, flat land and occasional ridges providing spectacular panoramic views. It is a true African wilderness with an immense diversity of game, including over 300 buffalo, with good numbers of old, hard-bossed “dugga” bulls. All hunts are conducted on foot, and it is challenging, as there are no captive bred, “put-and-take” buffalo here. In fact, these buff have drawn human blood on more than one occasion over the years. Most shots will be 40-60 yards, and this hunt can be done with either rifle or bow.
