Something Fishy...Flag Books!

with Laurel Herbeck

This month's Guild meeting will feature a classic accordion Flag Book. This dynamic structure, inspired by Hedi Kyle, Susan King, and others, is a fun and versatile way to incorporate a series of images, texts, photos, or collected objects in your artist books. We will look at some simple and complex examples and make a sample flag book from recycled file folders, card stock, and images from old research manuals given to the Guild by the Ichthyology Department at the Museum. Materials for the covers, accordion support, flags, and fish images will be provided.

And don't  forget!
your book to exchange  (although it's entirely optional)
July Book Exchange Theme: Painted Papers

For making flag books, please bring the following:
Cutting mat
Bone folder
Rulers
Metal edges (if you have them)
Scissors and craft knife
Glue stick
Double stick tape (we can share)
Colored pencils (optional)

PLEASE NOTE this meeting will be held at The Folk School!
