December 2025

Greetings!

As the year comes to an end, I look back on all we did in 2025. Our exhibits were incredible. Having the headwear exhibit was monumental and then the Fire & Smoke exhibit - wow. Oh, and Greg Navratil was amazing and the beauty of the Oregon Watercolor Society paintings - just awesome. Local art for the Rogue Valley Biennial and the current Membership Exhibit makes being in Southern Oregon an amazing treat.

What I love most about being in the museum is seeing people enjoy being here too. Whether alone or with friends...whether on First Friday or a random Tuesday - we hope we have a thoughtful setting for all. Hope to see all of you soon.

I wish for all of you a very happy holiday season.

Enjoy!

Current Exhibit

A glimpse of part of the exhibit.

If you haven't experienced this exhibit - please don't miss it. It will be here through December 20. We have 79 member artists represented in the exhibit.

COMING EXHIBITS IN 2026

At the beginning of 2026 we will have our annual exhibit/fundraiser and at the end of 2026 we will have our annual membership exhibit. It's going to be a great year. Don't miss any of it. We'll keep you posted.

HELP WANTED

A few words about volunteering at the museum. As you can see in the some of the images, we have a plethora of people helping us do things. For example, Dr. David Abdun-Nur helps with exhibit installation because his wife is part of our exhibition department. Will Ausland volunteers as part of a school commitment. He needs volunteer hours and likes art. We also have lots of different people who are greeters every afternoon. Think of spending four hours meeting new people and telling the stories about the exhibit and the museum. When not busy greeting, a volunteer can read, or sew, or do art. It's a great way to spend peaceful time! Sign up and find out for your self.

CALL FOR ART

There are a few rules to consider:

We want fine art. Make it special! We will have a reception for the donors and potential buyers.

  • The art must be original, although it doesn't have top be current.
  • Size limitations are 3 feet wide (outer frame dimensions) x 4 feet long (outer frame dimensions).
  • All hanging art must be hang ready. (Sawtooth hangers are discouraged)
  • All 3-D art must be safe and no heavier than 100 pounds. It must fit in a 3 foot square space.
  • We don't want prints.
  • We have the right to turn down a donation.
  • All art will be in an exhibit at the museum.

This will be an online auction. If there is art left at the end - it must be picked up by the donor. Otherwise it will be giving to a charity.

We really look forward to seeing what you will donate. We are very excited.

Submission Deadline: January 11, 2026 at 11:59pm

Art About Agriculture Touring Exhibition 2026: Field Report invites submissions of fine art and craft that explores visual storytelling inspired by food, fiber and natural resources. The 2026 tour is currently scheduled to visit Giustina Gallery at Oregon State University (Corvallis, OR/OSU), Josephy Center for Arts and Culture (Joseph, OR), Grants Pass Museum of Art (Grants Pass, OR), and the Betty Feves Memorial Gallery at Blue Mountain Community College (Pendleton, OR).

Art About Agriculture’s annual Open Call is a juried opportunity with no submission fees, open to Pacific Northwest artists and craftspersons, as well as students from OSU, Josephy Center for Arts and Culture, and Blue Mountain Community College. Works selected for the tour are eligible for purchase awards and acquisition into the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences’ Art About Agriculture Permanent Collection.

As you can see, we will be hosting this exhibit in 2026. If you want to be part of the exhibit - you need to apply - it's a juried exhibition. Wouldn't it be fun if a few of our museum member artists were part of this traveling exhibit.

Museum Happenings

The diorama cigar box workshop was a hit. Deanna Morse created a crowd of people in her diorama. She plans on gifting this box!

Paul enjoyed using all of the elements that Erva Zabel and Cindy Hernandez brought for the class. His theme was all about cats!

Evan and Halina Lipson (my son & granddaughter) created an under water mermaid and fish habitat using styrofoam pillars.

The second First Friday of the Fire and Smoke show had less attendees but those who came (91) stayed for a long time.

Zoe Durbin is our youngest artist. Here is this year's creation. Last year was Zoe's first. She's ()9) We have other youth in the exhibit.

James Daw/The Perfect Bite created just that - the perfect bites.

Everything from bacon wrapped dates to a variety of yummy desserts were truly The Perfect Bites. Even vegetarian options.

FEATURED ARTISTS FOR NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER

Every year, it's a tradition for artists to make ornaments, create holiday themed art, and have holiday cards on hand. This year is no exception. The entire gallery is festive. Think of Gallery One as your best place to shop for the holidays. It is also a great place to shop for cards. Many of the artists are selling one of a kind greeting cards. It is a great place to shop.
