What is depression?
Depression is a feeling of sadness and unhappiness that can last for a long time. Depression can interfere with your ability to work, study, eat, sleep, and enjoy life. Just trying to get through the day can be overwhelming. Feeling down from time to time is a normal part of life, but when emotions such as hopelessness and despair just won't go away, you may have depression.

What are the symptoms of depression?
Although depression symptoms are different for everybody, these are some of the signs that can help you recognize if you or someone you love might be depressed.

  • Feeling sad or having a depressed mood
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed
  • Changes in appetite — weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting
  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
  • Loss of energy or increased fatigue
  • Increase in purposeless physical activity (e.g., inability to sit still, pacing, handwringing) or slowed movements or speech (these actions must be severe enough to be observable by others)
  • Feeling worthless or guilty
  • Difficulty thinking, concentrating, or making decisions
  • Thoughts of death or suicide. (please seek help immediately)

Fortunately, depression is treatable and FoundCare's behavioral health professionals are here to help. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is needed to join.

Walk-ins welcome. Patients will be charged a behavioral health visit fee for each session. FoundCare accepts most insurance plans and offers a sliding fee scale based on household size and income for those without health insurance. No one is turned away due to inability to pay.

The Benefit of Support Groups
Support groups are offered as a space where individuals can come together to share their stories, experiences, and lives in a way that helps reduce isolation and loneliness. Often, we think we are struggling alone, but support groups help us see that there are others who may be dealing with similar situations and who in turn can help us get better.

FoundCare's depression support group will provide you with a safe and accepting place to vent your frustrations and fears and receive comfort and encouragement from others. This added support can give you new confidence as you learn to manage your depression and learn new ways to handle daily challenges.
