If you have a child who is eligible for Kindergarten in the 2023-2024 school year, now time to register. 

The registration process has easy to follow steps and takes no time to complete.

There's also helpful information you'll need to know regarding your child.

The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools Board of Education held its first of two Listening & Learning sessions.

The first session with Kansas City, Kansas residents took place at Wyandotte High School on Saturday, March 4. Those in attendance broke off into groups where they were asked to answer a series of questions.

Questions included:

• What are the academic strengths of KCKPS?
• What are the programs you would like to see improved?
• What are areas of safety that need improvement?

The information gathered from the ThoughtExchange will be shared with the board.

What do you think the school district is doing well and what areas should we focus on to improve in academics, safety and social-emotional learning/mental health?

It will take place Saturday, April 22nd at KCKPS Central Office.

Parents and Guardians, KCKPS has officially launched our new flyer system called Peachjar.

This new platform will enable your child’s school and the District to digitally send important school and community flyers to you.

School-approved digital flyers will be sent to your email inbox, where you can easily click to sign up for events and programs.

Additionally, you will be able to access flyers right from the homepage of your child(s) school using the Peachjar button.

No action is required to begin receiving this communication from your school. Look for emails with the subject line of “School Announcement and Opportunities for your Child.”

To ensure you don’t miss notifications, we suggest you add [email protected] to your email contacts and click “always display images” when you receive your first email.

Peachjar is used exclusively for the distribution of school and district-approved flyers only.

Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools addressed issues that impact its students and the Kansas City community with an all-important resource fair, youth leadership retreat, and panel discussion.

The day-long event was part of the Enough Is Enough initiative. The program launched in 2020 after the district lost 23 students to gun violence and drug use during 2019-2020 school year.

We are approaching severe weather season and now is the time to prepare.

The peak time for spring severe weather is March, April and May.

The potential for tornadoes and heavy storms goes up greatly.

There are several easy steps you can take before severe weather strikes.

To wrap up Black History Month, the USD 500 Board of Education welcomed Arrowhead Middle School’s choir to sing the Black National Anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the February 28th board meeting. A job well done.

From former KCKPS student and Tony-nominated playwright Christina Anderson comes a deeply moving story about justice, legacy, memory and the ultimate challenge of forgiveness.

Join us as KCRep brings the ripple, the wave that carried me home tour to Eisenhower Middle School and the West Wyandotte Library on April 7 for FREE. 

The KCRep for All program aims to break down economic and geographic barriers to theatre by bringing productions to meet people in their communities.

Performing the same script as seen on KCRep’s main stages, the show is re-staged and re-imagined to be performed in community spaces.

Dear KCKPS Parents, 

The time has come for KCKPS staff and parents to unite.

We want our scholars to return to schools ready, willing, and able to finish the school year.

We need your help as we prepare to begin State Assessment, start the 4th Quarter, and end the year with Fastridge Assessment, activities, and graduations.

We, here at KCKPS hold our scholars in high regard, so we have some expectations to keep our scholars on a pathway to excellence. 

We ask scholars to

• Be respectful to themselves, their peers, and adults
• Be peaceful in their words and actions
• Be a reader, and a learner, every day
• Be responsible

We ask parents to monitor their scholars' academic and behavioral progress.

Parents, please speak with your scholar about academics and behavior.

Schools are planning several events, field trips, activities, and graduations for the remainder of the year, and we would like all students to participate.

To participate in these school events, students should be doing the following:

• Follow directions the first time given
• Complete assignments and homework (TURN INTO THE TEACHER)
• Participate in group activities
• Follow the district Code of Conduct Expectations outlined 

As a former KCK student, a graduate of the Class of 95' from Wyandotte High School, a KCK teacher, an instructional coach, and now a principal, I hope you will help our KCK schools finish the year in a safe, caring, and productive learning environment that promotes excellence for our scholars.
