Deadline to Submit Comments on Proposed
SNAP Rule is April 2!

As a reminder, the U.S. Department of Agriculture recently proposed harsh changes to a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) rule that will take away food assistance from the communities that need it most , including American Indian and Alaska Natives communities who rely on SNAP to put food on the table each month.

Specifically, the proposed rule restricts the ability of states to waive SNAP time limits for Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs). By USDA’s own estimates, the proposal would eliminate SNAP benefits for 755,000 Americans and cut SNAP funding by $15 billion over 10 years.

The USDA is seeking public input on the proposal through Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Make your voice heard by taking just a few minutes to submit your opposition to this proposal.  Download a sample letter here .
