World Music Carnival

A musical weekend getaway for adults that will leave you exhilarated!

This April, CAMMAC invites you to escape into a world music carnival atmosphere. Throughout the year, different cultures on every continent celebrate carnival in their own way. Come and immerse yourself in the music at the heart of these celebrations! Whether it is Italian waltz, Québec chanson, samba, salsa or soca and calypso, our world carnival team offers you a range of party musics, while enjoying the serenity and good humour that reign at CAMMAC.

CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES:

Active listening, choir, dance, instrumental ensembles, percussion, vocal technique & singing, yoga, cabaret evening for teachers and participants, campfire, guided musical meditation, participants’ concert

From Bach to Brahms:

A Springtime Celebration

Friday May 16 to Monday May 19, 2025

Come share three days of choral and chamber music among friends in a springtime celebration of Bach and Brahms at the CAMMAC Music Centre!

Join us for this dynamic weekend exploring the rich traditions of German sacred music, led by Francis Colpron, Musical Director of Early Music ensemble Les Boréades, and Xavier Brossard-Ménard, Artistic Director of the professional choir Les Rugissants and President-Elect of Choral Canada.

WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS

The repertoire will highlight two masterworks of German sacred music: Bach’s contemplative funeral motet O Jesu Christ, mein Lebens Licht and Brahms’ exquisite Geistliches Lied.

Chamber musicians will have the opportunity to work with cellist David Ellis (previously from the Quatuor Saguenay), violinist Brett Molzan (professor at the Université de Montréal), pianist Myriam Bernard who holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance from Université de Montréal and Claire Marchand, one of Québec’s most sought-after flutists. In addition, four exceptional vocalists from the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal will join us as coaches and performers. This presents a unique opportunity for singers to receive personalized instruction from members of Canada’s premier early music ensemble.

In addition to choral and chamber music, the program offers a rich variety of activities including instrumental classes, active listening sessions, and revitalizing yoga classes to help maintain energy and focus throughout this immersive musical experience.

Join Julie Legault, your guide for this retreat, as she shares her deep understanding of yoga as a holistic practice beyond physical postures.

This retreat offers a unique opportunity to explore various yoga techniques that enhance concentration, relaxation, and self-connection. The weekend will feature daily yoga sessions, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, and Kirtan (mantra chanting), along with free time to unwind and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings of Lake MacDonald.

Alongside the Music Centre in the Laurentians, CAMMAC offers a wide range of musical activities in Montreal, Ottawa-Gatineau, and Toronto. From concerts to sight readings, there’s something for amateur musicians of all levels to enjoy.
