What Does a City Manager Do?

In South Jordan, our approach to governance is similar to that adopted by major cities such as Phoenix, AZ, Charlotte, NC, and San Antonio, TX, which is often called a council-manager form of government. Our City operates under the six-member council form of government, where the City Council delegates specific responsibilities to the Mayor and other responsibilities to the City Manager, providing a stable foundation for decision-making.

Take Shorter Showers

Limit your shower time to reduce water consumption. During winter months in Utah, water use is primarily indoors.

Indoor water-efficient tactics include upgrading old toilets and fixtures, fully loading dish and clothes washers, and checking indoor piping for leaks. Learn about rebates at watersmartsojo.org.

Winter Art Classes

SoJo Summerfest Commemorative Art Contest

The South Jordan Arts Council is inviting Salt Lake County residents to submit illustrative/Digital art (Done using a program such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop) for a 2024 commemorative poster. This art should capture the spirit of the City's kick-off to summer event and prominently feature the City's annual SoJo Music Festival, a highlight of the SoJo Summerfest event. Artist and artwork will be selected for this project under the discretion of the Arts Council. Professional, amateur, and student artists are encouraged to submit artwork.

SoJo Ranger Camp

Archery, fishing, and outdoor skills camp. Every week, learn new outdoor skills while you practice your archery and fishing skills. Learn to make arrows and how to tie fishing knots. Test your fishing skills on the final fishing day at camp. Fishing and archery equipment are provided.

Museum Mashup: Snowman Surprise Craft

Make and decorate your own snowman friend. Craft kits are available while supplies last. The craft supply list, instructions, and any templates are available all month on our website.

Every month the Gale Center provides a free activity for families to pick up at the museum or download online. Activities are perfect for Pre-K and K-3 learners. Museum Mashup at the Gale Center is funded in part by a grant from Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts, & Parks. Thank you!
