Fiddle Ninja Magic

Jakob Breitbach of Wilder, VT, has a black belt on the violin. He and partner in life as well as music, the one and only Jes Raymond, make up the duo Beecharmer. In this episode of JAM's long-running series The Magic's in the Music produced by Barbara Krinitz of Lebanon, NH, Breitbach explains how music theory unlocked the door to improvisation and talks about playing on the streets of Galina, Ohio, at age five.

Tell Me How You Breathe

“Who gets to breathe freely, fully, with ease,” is a necessary question for our time, right at the intersection of eco-activism, social justice, and public health. With the nourishment of participatory ceremony and song, the Loom Dance Esnemble grounds this political conversation in the physical body to incite the radical act of collectively imagining a more just and beautiful world.

Produced by Jan Abbott and Rick Russell for JAM at The Junction Dance Festival in White River Junction, VT July 2023.

Norman Rockwell

models reunite

The great illustrator lived in West Arlington, VT, from 1939 to 1953. Townsfolk and children posed for his classic Saturday Evening Post magazine covers. Now grown, child models recall fun times in his studio. Experts and museum curators tell his life story, discuss how his work matured, and reveal how he created his iconic paintings.
