Florida's summer heat can be more than just uncomfortable — it can also be dangerous. Take a few simple precautions to help prevent heat-related illnesses and keep yourself, your family, and your pets safe.

The sun is strongest between

10am - 4pm.
Limit outdoor activities, especially during these hours.

Choose lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing made of breathable fabrics like cotton or moisture-wicking materials.

Drink water before, during, and after activities. Avoid sugary drinks, alcohol, and excessive caffeine.

Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Reapply every 2 hours or after sweating or swimming.
