Rate Adjustment Coming in April

TVEC's rate for electricity, which was last adjusted in 2008, will see a slight increase starting with April bills, which include usage starting February 21.

For residential members the rate increase will take energy consumption charges up just under a half-cent per kilowatt-hour to $0.109628, and the monthly customer charge will go up to $25.

Commercial and industrial rates will also be affected, with full details in the January edition of Texas Co-op Power magazine or at tvec.net/rates.

We discuss the rate and what it means for members with General Manager/CEO Jeff Lane in this month's Consider it Hot Podcast here.

Is an EV right for you?

TVEC Energy Management Supervisor Chris Walker tackled this topic in the January Texas Co-op Power magazine.

Like solar, an EV can make sense in the right usage scenario. While energy costs are lower, the initial cost, range restrictions and other considerations may change the equation. See more in the magazine here.

Open for Member Comment: Federal PURPA considerations for demand response and electric vehicle programs

Congress enacted the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA) to promote energy conservation, efficient use of facilities and resources, and equitable customer rates.

As required, TVEC is working to gather information on two new standards that were included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. These include demand response programs for grid resilience and programs for promotion of electric vehicles.

You can find more information here, and email any comments or input to purpa@tvec.coop.

Comments may also be submitted at the TVEC member information meeting at 6 p.m. January 21 at the TVEC headquarters in Kaufman.
