September 2019
thank you words written on the sand of the beach
This week we celebrated Legacy Society for Hampton Roads members at a luncheon at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Virginia Beach. Legacy Society members are generous people with plans for future charitable bequests that will forever benefit our region through the Hampton Roads Community Foundation.

The Legacy Society has nearly 200 forward-thinking members who hail from all walks of life. Another 60 members have passed away since we launched the Legacy Society in 2002. We remember them well and are honored to forever carry out their charitable wishes for providing scholarships to college students, supporting nonprofits and helping our region flourish in many ways.

I am grateful for our Legacy Society members and know that behind them are professional advisors who helped them craft meaningful bequests. I am thankful for advisors who listen to generous people's ideas for helping others and connect them to the community foundation.

Yesterday, a new Legacy Society member mentioned how a chance meeting with an attorney got her to think of adding a gift for charity to her will. She hired the attorney who helped her formalize plans and introduced her to the community foundation. She is excited about her plans to forever benefit important causes and support student scholarships.

If I can help you or your clients explore charitable opportunities, please let me know. And, thanks again for all you do to make our community the best.
