Vietnam: A Never-Ending War for Many Veterans

Tuesday, March 25, at 12:30 pm

William and June Warren Hall (Room 103) – Lunch is served

Professor Jeanne Stellman has been studying a cohort of American Legionnaires for over 35 years. Her research highlights how the combat experiences of their youth have profoundly impacted their lives, contributing to early mortality and heightened risks for diabetes and other chronic illnesses. In her presentation, she shares key findings from this long-term study and examines the persistent challenges veterans face in gaining recognition and treatment for their service-related health conditions.

Jeanne Mager Stellman, PhD, is Professor Emerita and Special Lecturer at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health. A leader in environmental and occupational health, she has conducted pioneering research on Agent Orange and Vietnam veterans. She has led major public health initiatives, advised government agencies, and championed Yiddish language preservation.
