Respecting the health situation amidst the Omicron surge, the General Assembly’s two chambers will begin session under modified procedures – including remote testimony at committee public hearings. Witnesses will be asked to sign up and submit any written testimony two days in advance to participate in hearings, using a free account with the General Assembly website.

The House and Senate released detailed procedure explanations, which may be altered later in the Session pending changes in COVID caseloads and related health concerns. An already complex Session, with legislative redistricting pending and a statewide election looming, takes another turn as these safety precautions will likely limit the usual informal interactions assisting policy debates.
