Healthy Eating Easily and Economically
Trainer: Tinuola Bello (Integral Yoga Institute of New York)
Tuesday, October 5 (10:30am-12pm)
Funder: NYSHealth

The human body is the vehicle that carries us through our lives. With the right fuel, we can feel better, function at a higher level and prevent illness. But not everyone has time to shop, prep, cook and serve meals, and it's easy to become overwhelmed by the amount of information about nutrition that's available to us. This workshop will help attendees take charge of their meals to achieve greater vitality and energy while maintaining a budget, and will be conducted virtually with a live cooking demo.
Transgender Sensitivity
Trainer: Finn Brigham (Callen-Lorde)
Thursday, October 7 (12-2pm)
Funder: NYSHealth

"Transgender Sensitivity" will help participants gain a better understanding of the transgender community. We will explore the building blocks of identity and the differences between sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sex assigned at birth. We will present trainees with up-to-date vocabulary relating to these topics, including terms to avoid, and discuss the current legal protections for transgender and gender-nonconforming people.

These trainings will provide concrete strategies to create an inclusive environment that accommodates gender diversity for transgender colleagues and clients, starting at intake.

In alignment with the NYS Department of Health's training standards for Health Home Care Managers, CBC Health Home welcomes and strongly encourages all HHSA and HHSC care management staff to attend CBC Training Institute's upcoming Anti-Racism and Transgender Sensitivity trainings.

CBC Health Home will track attendance at these trainings and will provide those unable to attend an opportunity to view at a later date.

Trainer: Nancy O’Brien, C-IAYT (Integral Yoga Institute of New York)
Tuesday, October 12 (3-4pm)
Funder: NYSHealth

Pain can leave an indelible mark that lasts a lifetime. Through breath-based awareness, intention, gentle movement and relaxation, we will invite compassion to the edges—and centers—of our pain, whether in heart, mind or body. We will also visit the places where facing survival—our own, that of our loved ones and so, so many others—leaves its mark and awaits our wisdom. Coping with chronic pain seems like a daunting and frightening task. But there are specific practices and techniques that can make a big difference. Among Nancy O’Brien’s certifications is Yoga for Arthritis and Chronic Pain, in which she is also a teacher trainer. This modality has made a difference in countless lives through the Yoga for Arthritis and Chronic Pain classes Nancy teaches.
