Reminder Regarding Electronic Visit Verification Systems & Documentation

Applicable to: Mercy Care ACC RBHA, Mercy Care Long Term Care, Mercy Care DD, and Mercy Care DCS CHP

Mercy Care would like to remind providers that entering into a Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system is not the same as documentation to validate the service. The EVV system should be utilized to validate the hours and is to take place of the electronic timesheet. However, providers still need to document the service itself within their record system. The EVV hours does not meet documentation and billing requirements and does not take the place of service documentation.

The EVV system collects the following information:

• Type of service performed
• Individual receiving the service
• Date of the service
• Location of service delivery
• Individual providing the service
• Time the service begins and ends
