Reminder- Shredding Event Saturday!

paper shredding.jpg

We have scheduled a document paper shredding event for Saturday, May 7 from 8:30 am til 11:30 am.at the Fremont Administration Building. Enter through the highway department at 22376 Erhart Road.

You may bring the equivalent of 3 boxes to shred. Staples and paper clips are fine. The most efficient way is to place your items in a paper grocery bag. No plastic bags. To keep the line moving, you will not be able to exit your car and watch the shredding.

This shredding event is for documents only. Please recycle your coupons, magazines and junk mail with your weekly recycling. They will not be accepted.

Pop your trunk and we will take the items. Do not leave your car.

We will not accept any binders or hanging file folders or electronic items because they catch on fire in the truck. If the truck fills up before 11:30, the event will be over.

We look forward to seeing you and appreciate your patience.

Food Sorting

We will be sorting food from the Postal Food Drive on May 17 at 9:00 am. If you can help, we would love to see you. Email me at Diana@fremonttownship.com if you can make it.

Police Warn of Ruse Burglary Season

A Ruse Burglary begins with the suspects typically looking for elderly residents as victims. Once located, the suspects approach the resident either outside or by knocking on the front door. The suspects often claim to be utility workers, city employees, or contractors. The suspects will then gain entry to the residence using a ruse that they need to check for a potential problem such as bacteria in the water, check utility lines in the back yard, or check electrical outlets.

Once inside the home, one of the suspects will keep the victim distracted in a specific area or lure them outside of the residence. While the homeowner is distracted, additional suspects enter the home and commit theft, targeting cash and jewelry. They target bedrooms, dressers, closets, and small safes.

The suspects often wear a safety vest, lanyard with an ID, and a hat with a face mask to disguise their identity. Suspects will often communicate using handheld radios and are known to drive SUVs and trucks with no markings.

Safety Tips:

• Consider placing your jewelry in locations other than main dressers in bedrooms

• If a solicitor comes to your residence, try to take notice of the vehicle they are driving (make, model, color, type) as well as their attire and physical characteristics

• Do not allow people into your home unless you know them personally or if they have an appointment

• If you choose to speak with a solicitor or utility worker, never leave your front door unlocked or unattended

• You can verify with the utility company or local government agency if the individual was sent to your residence.

• Share these tips with elderly family members, friends, and neighbors since these crimes occur across Chicagoland.

If you feel you are the victim of a ruse burglary or you have seen suspicious vehicles and persons approaching elderly neighbors, please contact the Police Department by calling 911 immediately to report these incidents.

Kirk Players Presents The Diary of Ann Frank

1187776E-3FD8-4284-8B48-A156FF753206_4_5005_c.jpeg

In this powerful new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, Anne Frank emerges from history as a lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination.

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK features several young local talents. It is an impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic. It captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief.

Join them on Friday & Saturday, June 10-11 at 7:30 PM and on Sunday June 12 at 2:00 PM. The Kirk Players perform at Mundelein High School's auditorium (1350 W. Hawley Street, Mundelein).
