Hello Learners Chess Parents and Friends.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We are sending a quick reminder today about next week's Spring Break Chess Camp. We have three spots left for morning and/or full day campers and six spots left for afternoon only campers.

Also, for our current after school program students, it came to our attention that the link to register for the April 2nd team tournament was down for a little while and also was not pointed correctly in our last email about it.
Learners Lost and Found: Have you all lost anything at chess camp? Check our lost and found here before we donate these items to charity. Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3, Pic 4
If you do have items in this lost and found let me know and you can arrange to come by next week to pick it up.

  • Click here to sign up for a week of more summer chess camp today!
  • Remember, this summer we have two weeks of camp in Rio Rancho, one week in Corrales, and one week in Santa Fe
  • We also have four different weeks of Girls Camp, when girls get a special discount for attending that week. We very much aim to get more girls involved in chess.
  • Advanced Camp is July 17th-21st!
  • Need-based scholarships are available for summer camp! Sign up first then apply from the link in your confirmation email.
  • Summer camp is one of the best places for kids to get the most benefits from chess, as the completely immerse themselves in a fun and rewarding week of chess learning.
  • Studies show that the most benefits from learning chess are had by those kids who are less inclined to be good at it. Your young artistic/performer/athlete student may not ever be a chess champion and that is completely fine with us, especially because they are the students who have the most to gain from learning the chess basics before they go one to other more collaborative and creative pursuits in middle and high school.

Fun Chess Puzzles!
As we start to approach summer, we are going to borrow a series of chess puzzles composed by Coach Eddie for his book, Chess Puzzle Learning Levels Volume 1.

This is Coach Eddie's SUMMER series of puzzles. In all of these puzzles, the pieces make the shape of one of the letters in the word SUMMER. Here are the first two with coach Eddie's hints.
SUMMER! Series #1 (level 3)
White to move and mate in 3.
Hint: all problems in this series are forced mates.
