Important updates for FOCA members
Greetings!

You're receiving this update because we have you on file as a representative of one of our FOCA member lake or road Associations.

We have four important, time-dated updates for you:
New Phragmites Project Funding:

Following successful projects by FOCA member Associations undertaken in 2021 with Green Shovels Collaborative funding, FOCA is pleased to issue a new call for funding proposals from our member Associations for on-the-ground projects focused on invasive Phragmites, to start this summer and be completed by February 2023. Selected Associations may be funded up to $4,000 for eligible expenses.

Access the Info/Application Form, here: https://foca.on.ca/phragmites/

Funding proposals should be submitted by sending the completed Info/Application Form by email to programs@foca.on.ca by July 29, 2022, with the Subject Header: “2022 Phragmites Project Proposal.”

This is part of a strategic initiative to collaboratively address key Phragmites gaps, to help achieve an improved strategic, coordinated approach to the prevention and management of Phragmites in Ontario. These projects will help demonstrate that our efforts can have a lasting impact and ensure meaningful progress is achieved on coordinated Phragmites control in Ontario in the future.
upcoming FOCA webinar: Municipal Election Engagement for Associations
Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 12:00pm-1:00pm by Zoom webinar

We encourage every member association to designate a representative to register for our next 'lunch-n-learn' event. Do you know who can vote in a municipal election? Why it matters that waterfront property owners participate? Find out what issues are handled at the municipal level of government, and hear examples from lake association peers about their election engagement experiences.

Register here. Remember to include your FOCA affiliation when you register.
last call: FOCA cottage country issues Survey

While we already have over 450 responses to our survey about Cottage Country Hot Topics & FOCA's Roles, we're looking to more than double that number before the survey closes on July 24, 2022.

Can you help us? Please take the short survey, and then circulate the link widely on association website and social media channels, and by email to your contacts:

Members & others are invited to respond and share thoughts about the top issues facing Ontario waterways, and how FOCA's work and various communications channels serve your needs.
Resources for your next meeting or Newsletter:

FOCA has created an overview video that explains our ongoing work and the benefits of membership. We also have a small digital ad that you can put into your next Newsletter or add to your website.
An ad about FOCA
A video about our work, and member benefits
Contact the FOCA office for the link to a cloud folder where you can download copies of the ad and the video file (so you can run it from your device without needing access to internet streaming in order to show it to fellow members). While you're at it, you can also request copies of the member benefits sheet, the web login, dock signage about "clean, drain, dry," or print materials for your community welcome packages.
FOCA is the Federation of Ontario Cottagers' Associations,
the voice of the waterfront for over 60 years.
