Dear Assumption Students and Families,

As the global situation relative to COVID-19, coronavirus, continues to worsen, I would like to again remind you that all Assumption students participating in study abroad have the option to return to the United States to complete their academic program.

The Centers of Disease Control has urged colleges and universities to cancel student international travel programs and have students return to their home country since “students may face unpredictable circumstances, travel restrictions, challenges in returning home or accessing health care while abroad.”

For example, last night the Italian Prime Minister imposed nation-wide travel restrictions. Given the rapid increase of coronavirus confirmations in countries such as France and Spain, university closures and travel restrictions could become the norm in Europe until this global health crisis subsides. Also, many airlines are canceling flights throughout Europe.

We strongly urge students and their families to consider the Centers for Disease Control's recommendation for students to return to the United States. Know that the College will work with students to develop a plan that will allow them to complete their courses.

Should you have any questions, please contact Dr. Eloise Knowlton.

Sincerely,
