Dear Faculty,
Please upload your syllabus to the Artemis-based Syllabus Builder system at least two weeks prior to the start of your class -- regardless of your teaching modality. All faculty are expected to take the following steps to stay compliant with the current syllabus requirements:
- Please remember to upload your syllabus in two places: 1) Syllabus Builder and 2) Your Blackboard Course
- If you are teaching on campus and do not have a Blackboard shell, you are still expected to upload an electronic copy in the Syllabus Builder so that it can published to your students. Distributing a hard copy on the first day of class does not fulfill this requirement.
- Publish in the Syllabus Builder so that your syllabus shows up for your students in their official term schedules -- it is not necessary to wait for the Dean's approval. You will be notified if your syllabus needs to be updated for any reason.
- Place your syllabus in your Blackboard course as a web link and NOT as a doc or pdf file. By using the "copy link" process, any edits in your syllabus in the Syllabus Builder will automatically be updated in your course at the same. If you need assistance with this process, please click here for a short video tutorial.
- Please be aware that if you have more than one section of the same course, you will need to copy and submit/publish a syllabus for each section and change the reference numbers or any other details that may be class specific.
For those teaching hybrid or online, please consider the following:
- If you are teaching hybrid, please be sure to address the expectations for both online and on campus student participation.
- If you are teaching online with a Center for eLearning College Master:
- Please use the CeL template found in Option 3 of the Syllabus Builder and not the Blue Wave version because this template aligns with the course content found in your course.
- Please do not copy the same syllabus from term to term -- you will need to pick up the most current CeL template in order to capture any changes in the College Master course content.
If you need assistance in completing your syllabus, you can access any of the following resources:
Instructions for How to Use the Syllabus Builder
Request "one on one" assistance in the Campus Resource Center (offered on campus or virtual)
Official College Policy on the Syllabus Process and All Required Components
Syllabus Important Dates (Drop, Withdraw, etc. to be included)
Thank you for all of your efforts to keep Open Campus/Deerwood Center compliant with the College requirements.
