Country Club Park Reopens Bigger and Better!

The city of Forsyth held a ribbon cutting for the new additions to its largest city park, Country Club Park last week.

Mayor Eric Wilson said planning for the improvements has been ongoing for nine or 10 years since Forsyth acquired the additional park property while John Howard was mayor. Wilson and Howard were also instrumental in forming the City of Forsyth’s Convention & Visitors Bureau. Howard, along with many others who have had a part in bringing the additions to the park to fruition attended the ceremony. The city is using $3 million to renovate and for new construction. The investment includes a Rotary Club pavilion, 16 new pickleball courts, a new connective road, a covered basketball court, paved parking lot, and a small amphitheater. Plans for hosting pickleball tournaments in Forsyth are in the works.

Congrats, Navid Kapadia!

CVBA member Leslie Waters (Grits Café, GM) presents a certificate of appreciation to Navid Kapadia, with deep appreciation for his many years of guidance and leadership as a member, and as the Secretary/Treasurer of the City of Forsyth Convention & Visitors Bureau Authority. A Choice Hotel’s Rising Star, Navid Kapadia began his Forsyth career as part of the team that managed Comfort Inn & Suites, Comfort Inn, and LaQuinta, before taking another position in the company. His family has owned hotels in Forsyth since 1998.

The Kapadia family not only works hard to offer travelers comfortable accommodations that are a successful business, and an asset to the area, they have also reached out to develop a partnership with Forsyth and Monroe County. Navid said he sees that partnership as an advantage to everyone and enjoyed his role in fostering communication and cooperation between the hotels and the community. As Navid advanced in the company, he found himself away from Forsyth more and more – deciding to roll off the CVB Authority this past December. Navid is currently the President of Logik Ventures. Thank you, Navid!
