MAIN STREET RESURFACING

The City is in the process of resurfacing Main Street from Kentlands Blvd. to Midtown Rd. During this project, the City will highlight areas where safety measures for the public can be improved. One area highlighted in this corridor is the driveway from Main St. to the parking lot behind the building on the 200 block of Main St.

The area of concern is the exiting/entrance driveway behind

200 Main St., which extends from the parking lot out towards Main Street. Due to the tall buildings and narrow exiting corridor, there is no sightline for a driver to see pedestrians crossing the corridor by the sidewalk or see oncoming vehicles beginning to enter the corridor.

The City wants to install a pole and pedestrian crossing sign in the median island in the parking lot as you approach this driveway and install a stop bar and “STOP” lettering on the pavement right before the driveway at Main Street.

Please refer to the maps below. Ideally, we would like to install an additional pole and stop sign before the driveway, but upon further review, we found that there is inadequate space to accomplish this.
