Dear Kenston Middle School Parents/Guardians,

We are very excited to welcome our KMS Students back for their first day of the 2025/26 school year, tomorrow, Thursday, August 14. The faculty and staff have spent this week preparing for a great return and know that this will be a fantastic year.

To help ensure you and your child are prepared for a great start to the year, please see the following reminders.

The following are the start and end times for the school day.

Kenston Middle School:

7:38 am to 2:25 pm

Safety on Campus and Traffic Updates

As a reminder, the safety and well-being of our students and families continue to be our top priority. This year, there are several updates to building traffic patterns as well as drop-off and pick-up procedures, which were shared in communications from your school. Also, we would like to share that speed bumps have been installed in various places across campus. With many new families joining the district, we kindly ask for your cooperation in keeping our campus safe for everyone.

To improve traffic flow, the traffic patterns at the Snyder Road entrances for KMS and the Board of Education Office have been updated.  Click here to view map. Please note the change to the north driveway, which is now designated as both an entrance and an exit. Additionally, a crosswalk has been added to assist students crossing from one side of the parking lot to the other.

Finally, we are aware of the upcoming road closures in our community, and we will contact families who may need route adjustments. Please check the Infinite Campus Transportation Tab again this evening to stay updated on your route information for the first day, and allow extra time if you are driving your student or your student drives to school.

Transportation:

All students riding the bus are assumed to be transported home each day. If your child needs to go to a daycare and you have not already done so, please complete the census verification indicating where your child will be at the end of the day. More information can be found by submitting details on the Kenston Transportation Form (click here).

Additionally, as a reminder, Kenston Schools uses the Stopfinder App. If you have not already, please sign to ensure you are ready for the buses. The Stopfinder App allows parents and guardians to track their children’s school buses in real-time, accurately. The user-friendly app is secure, ensuring only authorized users can access bus information. It also offers two-way communication, giving parents a quick way to receive notifications and customize alerts. To get your invite, please email transportation@kenstonapps.org

School Fees:

School fees can be paid online through Infinite Campus or by sending a check to the school with your student. If you have any questions regarding fees, please contact your building office directly.

Nutrition Services:

Nutrition Services Director, Andrew Mendez, has prepared a delicious Welcome Back to School Menu. Click here to find the menu.

Lunch money can be added online through Infinite Campus prior to the start of school. If you prefer to send a check or cash once school begins, please place the payment in an envelope clearly labeled with your student’s name and grade.

Every year, families can apply for free or reduced-price meals by completing the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. In addition to receiving free and reduced meal pricing, those who qualify receive instructional and activity fee waivers and other services. Click here to complete the application.

If you have any questions about lunch money or lunch accounts, please reach out to Andrew Mendez, RDN, Director of Nutrition Services at 440-543-3121.

Cell Phone Policy

As a reminder, the use of cell phones in Ohio schools during instructional times is prohibited. Cell phones and other electronic devices present distractions and disruptions to the learning process. This means there will be no student use of cell phones during the day. Student phones shall be turned off and stored away. If you have any questions regarding the policy, please contact our office directly.

As we all know, the first day of school brings a mix of emotions, excitement, nerves, and everything in between. We hope our students had a chance to enjoy their last day of summer break, spending time with family and friends, getting their backpacks ready, and planning to go to bed early for a good night’s sleep.

Tomorrow morning, the KMS Team will be excited to welcome all students with open arms—and we can't wait to see them arrive with a smile, ready to start a new school year full of opportunities, friendships, and growth.

If you have further questions, contact Kenston Middle School at 440-543-8241.

Here’s to a great start to the 2025–2026 school year and Go Bombers!
