TESTIMONIAL

My experience with Trusted Senior Placement was extremely helpful!  I was from N. CA, my sister lived in Orange, we really needed help to get her out of a bad situation into assisted living and our problem was solved.  I am very grateful to Trusted Senior Placement and Teresa Jepsen, whose help was invaluable.

Did you know?
YOU CAN CELEBRATE FRIEND'S DAY!

In Finland where Valentine's Day is called Ystävänpäivä, which translates into "Friend's day". It's more about remembering your buddies than your loved ones. The tradition is fairly new, starting in the late 80's, but Finland may be on to something.

Appropriate for Valentine's month...I really appreciated the article on the healing value of reminiscing about love relationships.  When all is said and done, relationships are what we value most. And, by the way, Valentine's are good for everyone! My husband buys them for our four children as well as for me! Let's have some fun reaching out to show our love and appreciation for those we hold dear, sweethearts or not! Young and old, a box of chocolates, and a classic or newer romantic comedy...bliss! Enjoy this Valentine's month with all your loved ones!

Warm Regards,

A Love Story to Help Older Patients Heal

Just like in The Notebook, helping the elderly remember things past makes the present come alive, a nurses' study finds. With Valentine's Day around the corner, reminiscing may be the key to a happier heart and a better hospital experience, say a team of Chicago-based researchers who have discovered the profound impact that reminiscing plays as a healing tool not only in Hollywood tearjerkers, but also in inspiring compassion and caring for older hospitalized patients among healthc are professionals. Just as the power of reminiscing reawakened the memory of a great love in Nicholas Sparks' heart-wrenching story, The Notebook, researchers at Saint Xavier University School of Nursing have shown that engaging an older patient in telling his or he story is a healing and heart-warming journey for the storyteller and for the nurse who listens.

Myths About Home Care for the Elderly

When Carrie Miller's husband was hospitalized after a heart attack, his doctors recommended an in home care professional to help him get back on his feet. Several times a week, a physical therapist came into the home to improve her husband's mobility and a speech therapist arrived to work on some of the language skills he had temporarily lost. . .
For many families, this can be a godsend. But others worry about letting a stranger into the home. There is still much confusion and myths surrounding home care. Let's do some myth busting. . .
