Remote Learning Option During the Holidays

November 24, 2020

Dear Hastings Families,

While some families enrolled their children in the remote only instruction option, we have also received requests from other families to access remote instruction during the holiday season starting this week with Thanksgiving and ending with the week after New Year’s Day. As older siblings return home from college and other family members visit during the holidays, families want to keep their children home, without penalty, to limit contact with others who may be asymptomatic and have the COVID virus. During this time, families don’t want their children marked absent with no access to instruction.

Effective immediately, families who wish to have their children participate in remote instruction, instead of in-person learning, between now and January 7, 2021, may do so. To ensure student attendance is accurately recorded, please notify the following school administrators before the start of each day of your intention to have your child access remote instruction rather than attend school with their assigned hybrid cohort:

Ms. Melissa Hardesty, Hastings High School, hardestym@hohschools.org
Mr. Kevin Hanlon, Farragut Middle School, hanlonk@hohschools.org
Mr. John DeKams, Hillside Elementary School, dekamsj@hohschools.org

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the above-mentioned administrator of your child’s school.

I wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Warm regards,

Valerie Henning-Piedmonte, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
