A Non-Profit Community Impact Program

Success Story

Finding a Way!

A family was thrilled when their son was accepted into Partners In Learning's ABA Program, but faced a significant challenge: transportation.

Their son was too young for the school bus, and they lacked reliable transportation to get him to the center.

PIL, recognizing the importance of the child's attendance to this critical therapy, collaborated with other local agencies to secure transportation services. With this hurdle overcome, the boy is now thriving in the program, developing essential skills and building a strong foundation for future learning. This story highlights the importance of partnerships and community collaboration in ensuring access to quality early childhood education for all children.

Community Connections

We were thrilled to partner with the Rowan County Health Department and Main Street Marketplace and Meeting Place to host the Winter Warm Up healthy cooking class. Families learned valuable nutrition tips, won fun prizes, and received recipes for quick and easy healthy meals.

Senator Ford Meets with Partners In Learning

On January 24, 2025, Senator Ford had the privilege of meeting with board members and staff of Partners In Learning, a 501(c) non-profit organization who provides children and their families with support in education and development. In line with their moto, "igniting a brighter future," they strive to provide children with healthy meals, natural learning environments, and outdoor involvement to keep both their minds and bodies active.

During this meeting, Senator Ford toured their facilities to see their work firsthand.

Family Support Tip on Communication: The use of "I" Statements

couple-talking.jpg

What it is: "I" statements are a communication technique where you express your feelings and needs without blaming or accusing others.

Why it's important:

  1. Reduces defensiveness
  2. Promotes open and honest communication
  3. Helps build empathy and understanding

How to use "I" statements:

  1. Start with "I": "I feel..." or "I think..."
  2. Describe your feelings
  3. Explain the reason for your feelings
  4. Describe the impact:

Example:

  • Instead of: "You always leave your clothes on the floor! It's so inconsiderate!"
  • Try: "I feel frustrated when I see clothes on the floor because it makes the room feel messy and I worry about tripping."

Remember: "I" statements are a powerful tool for improving communication within your family. Practice using them regularly, and be patient with yourself and others as you learn to implement them effectively.
