New RSA Discipline
Africana Studies
History will be made at the 2020 Annual Meeting, as several conference sessions will be formally sponsored under the new RSA discipline of Africana Studies.
RSA Philadelphia 2020
Call for Chairs : The conference schedule for the RSA Annual Meeting has been published and there are more than 570 sessions taking place 2–4 April 2020. For several of these sessions, the RSA is in need of chairs to introduce the presenters and help facilitate discussion following each paper presentation. Please consider volunteering .

Graduate Student Reception: The  Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts  at the University of Pennsylvania will host a reception for graduate students on Wednesday, 1 April 2020, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Special Exhibition : The Kislak Center will also be mounting a special exhibition, Making the Renaissance Manuscript: Discoveries from Philadelphia Libraries , which is available for viewing before, during, and after the RSA Annual Meeting.

Texts and Studies Series
Volume 13 in the Brill-RSA Texts and Studies Series has been published . Uberto Decembrio’s “Four Books on the Commonwealth” is one of the earliest examples of the reception of Plato’s Republic in the fifteenth century and has been translated and edited by Paolo Ponzù Donato.

In Memoriam
Barbara C. Bowen , a prominent Renaissance scholar and former president of the RSA, has died. A Vanderbilt University professor of French, emerita, and RSA president from 1996 to 1998, Bowen passed away on November 19 at her home in Nashville, Tennessee.

North American British Music Studies Association (NABMSA) Conference
Presentations on topics related to all aspects of historical and modern British music and musical life throughout Britain, the Empire/Commonwealth, and beyond due 20 January 2020. The Ninth Biennial NABMSA Conference is hosted by Illinois State University 23-26 July 2020.

Pedagogy and the Premodern
Proposals on medieval and early modern pedagogy within the contemporary university due 15 January 2020. Symposium hosted by the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Duke University 6–7 March 2020.
