Quarterly Tourism Monitor 4Q2022

Travel in Asia Pacific is gradually recovering, evident in the 63 million IVAs of 45 destinations in the fourth quarter of 2022– a 98% increase over that of 2021.

West Asia registered the highest recovery rate of 99.7% for 4Q2022 from 2019 and welcomed over 11.3 million IVAs collectively in this quarter. The Pacific registered a Y-o-Y increase of 94.1% with roughly 4 million IVAs during the final quarter.

History in the Making

We are thrilled to see the immense amount of Asian pride and joy expressed at the 95th Academy Awards! From Ke Huy Quan reflecting on his beginnings as a Vietnamese refugee, to Michelle Yeoh inspiring hope in young Asians, to co-director Daniel Kwan and producer Jonathan Wang paying tribute to their Taiwanese parents, to Stephanie Hsu speaking Mandarin on the red carpet, and more – this is history in the making.

Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has become the first Malaysian to win an Oscar at the 95th Academy Award, and she has also become the first Asian woman to win Best Actress at the Oscars.
