Renewing In-Person Services

Beginning on Monday, February 8, the library will resume limited in-person services.

Open hours are:
  • Monday-Thursday: 10:30am-7pm
  • Friday-Saturday: 10:30am-4pm
  • Sunday: 12-4pm

Curbside pickup will be available:
  • Monday-Saturday: 9:30-10:30am

Services available include: limited computers for adults and teens (ages 14+) 1-hour per day, browsing and holds pickup, copier, scanner and printing, take and make craft kits, and more.

Winter Reading Program

For the first time ever, the library is offering a winter reading program online! Read and keep track of time spent reading and you could win a gift card from some area businesses! We've got a program for any age (yes adults too). The program runs through Friday, March 19.

One more first- we've set a community reading goal of 150,000 minutes. All your time spent reading will add to our goal. Good luck everyone and enjoy your reading!

Did you know....

Too many holds coming in all at once?
Freeze your requests!

Holds can be ‘frozen’ to retain your place in the hold queue, which postpones when the hold gets filled if you’ll be away or you want to delay a request.

To freeze holds on your computer:
  • Log into your account on CountyCat. From the list of holds, check the appropriate boxes from the ‘Freeze’ column, then select ‘Update List.’
  • Choose 'YES' in response to the confirmation message that comes up next. The holds will remain frozen until you ‘unfreeze’ them.

To freeze holds on your mobile device using the CountyCat Mobile App:
  • Under ‘My Account’, click on ‘Held Items.’
  • Tap the ‘Freeze’ button under the held item(s) you wish to postpone. A pop up window will appear advising the hold has been updated. The ‘Freeze’ button will now say ‘Unfreeze’.  

IMPORTANT: Staff are not able to unfreeze your frozen holds. This is something you must do within your CountyCat record, either using a web browser or the mobile catalog app.

Reasons why a title cannot be frozen include:
  • Titles are in transit.
  • Titles were just placed on hold and technically still available.
  • Titles are ready for pickup.
  • Titles have been on hold more than 255 days.
Virtual Storytime

We've got 2 more weeks of virtual storytime! Due to COVID-19, all of our storytimes are virtual storytimes! We invite you to join one of our youth services librarians for books, rhymes, songs, and more. Our events will premiere on our Facebook page, and they will also be saved on our FB page for a brief amount of time.

Through February 18
  • Tuesday @10am: Toddler Time
  • Fridays @10am: All Ages

Friends of the Whitefish Bay Library

2021 Scholarship- Deadline is March 15
Friends of the Whitefish Bay Public Library are pleased to announce two $500 educational scholarships for students who have been positively influenced by libraries. High school seniors who are residents of or attend school in Whitefish Bay and will be attending college during the 2021/2022 school year are eligible. Read all the details at:
