The above is a retraction from the Reno Gazette Journal newspaper. The paper that had reported me dead a couple days prior. This retraction of my reported demise is from about fifty years ago.

I appreciate the historical reference of the headline of the article. "Reports of my death were greatly exaggerated" has been attributed to Mark Twain after his obituary was posted in error by several newspapers in 1897.

Apparently, they did not use a spell checker in 1973, as there is a misspelled word in the first sentence of the article. I don't know who was the reporter that wrote this article. Based on the attention to detail and assuming a person is dead without verification, I doubt that he/she had an award-winning career in journalism.

If you think that this little fender bender ended my motorcycle daze, you would be mistaken. Getting married in 1981 caused me to hang up my two wheeler keys forever.

Young Kelly was a man of speed,

Would ride his motorcycle for that need.

He'd go quick and brisk,

With little regard for the risk.

But one day, not far from a casino,

He hit a car in the city of Reno.

The collision was a shocking sight,

And he flew through the air like a kite.

Kelly was not badly hurt, lucky indeed,

And learned his lesson about speed.

He chose to ride more cool,

And be careful, to not end as a fool.
