Study shows Reno one of the top cities for pet lovers

For most of us, pets are part of the family. 2015 has been a record year for animal lovers, with an unprecedented 65 percent of American homeowners welcoming pets into their families. 79.7 million American households now own a pet, according to a recent survey by the American Pet Products Association

A recent WalletHub study compared the pet-friendliness of the nation's 100 most populous cities and showed that Reno is one of the flagship locations for the nation's pet lovers. The study factored 16 metrics such as veterinarians per capita, pet-friendly restaurants, animal shelters, outdoor environments and insurance premiums.

Reno was ranked as the eighth overall best city in the United States for pet lovers. Reno was ranked the second best in terms of animal health care and wellness.
