Full Orientation Schedule Announced
for Each Grade Level
Dear Bishop Hendricken Family,

As a follow-up to yesterday’s announcement regarding the delay of the first day of classes to Monday, September 14th, we’ve developed an expanded orientation program that will begin on Monday, August 31st. As part of the extended two-week orientation schedule, all grade levels will attend two orientation days, one each week. All orientation days are half-days. The full schedule is detailed and attached below, and available as a PDF here.
Orientation Breakout Sessions

  • Review of COVID changes to campus
  • Distribution of student schedules for the year
  • Yearbook photos
  • Homeroom – Week 2
  • Textbook distribution
  • Student Handbook review
  • Distribution of class t-shirts
  • Presentations from Administration
  • Welcome
  • Review of schoolwide health & safety protocol and important changes to our daily routines and campus norms
  • Class Schedule Run-Through
  • Meet-and-greet with teachers by period according to student schedules
  • Review of classroom expectations and adjustments

  • Review of applications for all virtual learning tools, including PlusPortals, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.

Orientation Health & Safety
Throughout our orientation programs, all of our established health and safety guidelines will be followed, per our Reopening Bishop Hendricken plans. This includes symptom screening, masks or face coverings at all times, physical distancing whenever and wherever possible, and more. We ask that all students, parents, faculty, and staff review these protocols in our plan beginning on pg. 11.

Orientation Bus Service
As is the case each year, there will be no bus service or transportation provided for any orientations.

Orientation Dress Code
All students will be required to wear a jacket, shirt, and tie for their 1st orientation session for the purposes of taking their yearbook photos. For their 2nd orientation session, all students must adhere to our modified COVID-19 dress code of collared shirts and khaki/dress pants, as noted in our Reopening Bishop Hendricken plan on pg. 17. No ties or jackets required for the 2nd orientation session.

Orientation Reminders
  • All students should bring a device with them for technology tutorials. Students who need a device will receive them as inventory permits during orientation. If you need one, but haven’t yet filled out the request form, do so here.
  • Students should bring a water bottle as water fountains will be closed for orientation and during the school year.
  • Students who receive textbooks from Bishop Hendricken should bring a backpack to their 2nd orientation session (Warwick, East Providence, Providence, North Kingstown & out-of-state students).
  • No lunch will be provided on any orientation days.

Our hope is that this extended orientation period will allow all members of our community – students, faculty, and staff – ample time to re-acclimate themselves to campus and adjust to our new normal.

We thank you for your continued support, understanding, and patience. As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
