Reopening Plans Announced
Dear Parents,

As our administration and strategic reopening committees continue working on our return to school in the fall, we want to supply details on all three reopening models that have been developed, as well as provide you an opportunity for feedback for our consideration.

Please review the following details of each model and complete the accompanying form to contribute your input, HERE. This survey will be available until Friday, July 24th.

Please know that this is an ever-evolving situation based on continued updates to state and public health guidelines. This feedback is specifically for the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year in the fall and adjustments to all of these models may be necessary based on changes in guidance.

Regardless of what model we determine is the best fit for us under the circumstances, the beginning of the school year will be a tremendous adjustment for everyone. We know this is uncertain, and in many ways, scary. We greatly value your input, flexibility, and support as we work to ensure the best possible student experience and safety under the new normal.

FULL MODEL
A full, in-person reopening of campus with each grade level being assigned to their own wing of the building. This model follows the traditional Bishop Hendricken schedule (7-day rotation, normal class periods and meeting times). Students will be able to pass from room-to-room for classes within their wing. Teachers will be assigned to wings based on the bulk of their teaching schedule, and will move between wings as necessary based on the grade levels they teach (i.e. a teacher who teaches mostly seniors will be assigned to the senior wing, but will travel to the junior wing for the junior class they teach).

Under this plan, everyone wears a mask or face covering for the entire day. When possible, students will be socially distanced within their classrooms. Each morning, students will report directly to their homerooms and will be screened for symptoms. If a student reports any symptoms at all, the nurse will be notified and he will be sent to the isolation room on campus to be picked up.
Lunches will take place in the classroom, or outside in a designated area for each grade, when weather permits. Academies, athletics, and after school activities will be incorporated in the safest way possible under the guidelines put forth by the state. More information on this is coming soon.

The Campus Reopening Committee has been, and continues to actively research and potentially procure air purifiers, additional hand sanitizing stations, and more to ensure proper campus hygiene for a full, in-person reopening. Campus will be deep cleaned each night by our custodial staff with our newly developed cleaning regiment, including the proper disinfecting of desks, classrooms, and high-touch areas. Additionally, all rooms and spaces that will be utilized have been vetted with the committee and are in full compliance with the guidelines and guidance put forth by the state.

HYBRID MODEL
Under the hybrid model, students will return partially to campus on select days and on a rotating basis. This model follows the traditional Bishop Hendricken schedule, both in-person and virtual (7-day rotation, normal class periods and meeting times). On Monday and Tuesday, grades 8-10 will be on campus for in-person classes, while grades 11-12 will attend classes virtually from home. On Wednesday, all grades will attend classes virtually from home to allow a deep clean of campus. On Thursday and Friday, grades 11-12 will be on campus for in-person classes, while grades 8-10 will attend classes virtually from home.

All campus cleaning and safety measures in place for the full model will be utilized in the hybrid model, too.

More information on other faculty and student requirements will be available soon.

Utilizing Microsoft Teams and PlusPortals as foundational platforms, faculty will be utilizing multiple online learning tools and will undergo continued professional development on virtual learning best practices.

· Modified schedule with homeroom and class period meetings
· Microsoft Teams and PlusPortals serve as foundation for instruction and assignments
