Dear Harford Day School families,
I hope that this finds you and your loved ones well, and navigating these complicated times as smoothly as possible.
All of us at HDS continue in our intent to open the school year on September 8 with options for both on-campus and virtual learning. You may be aware that Harford County Public Schools have made the decision to open district schools on an entirely virtual basis, with no students on campus until January, 2021. Their decision is a direct reflection of the logistical challenges a large district faces and not a result of increased or changing health and wellness concerns.
The logistics for opening school are, indeed, challenging, but entirely worth our very best efforts on behalf of your children. Toward that end, this communication has two goals.
Goal # 1
The HDS Reopening Guidelines that have been developed to date can be accessed HERE
. Please note that these guidelines represent Version #1, and that we expect follow-up versions to be issued as we continue to evaluate and adapt our plans throughout the summer.
At this time, as we work on the detailed elements of planning, such as scheduling, furniture arrangements, purchasing needs, and so on, it is critical that we hear from you about your plans for the fall. Specifically, by completing this very brief survey, please let us know if, at this time, you are planning to have your child(ren) continue their learning on campus or virtually (largely through live streaming of on-campus classes). You can access the survey
it is our hope to receive as near to a 100% response rate as possible!!
Thank you for your continued support, and many thanks in advance for helping us by completing the survey.
