Hello CUSD Family,
Great News! On Tuesday, March 9, 2021, the State of California announced that Imperial County has entered the RED TIER. The Calexico Unified School District (CUSD) is now in a position to meet the required criteria to reopen. Please make sure to read the community letter above for more information regarding "School Site Reopening Plans" and start dates for students. We are looking forward to seeing our students in person.
Our sports programs are in full swing. We are now in the second month of our adjusted season for sports. As of Monday, March 15, we will have 10 individual sports taking place at CHS. Full practices are in session for Cross Country, Track, Football, Boys and Girls Swim, Boys and Girls Tennis, and Boys and Girls Soccer.
Softball and Baseball will open their season on Saturday, March 13, and Sideline Cheer will follow next week. See Team Information below:
- The cross-country team has had 5 meets and has won all but one of those meets. Their last meet will take place next Tuesday at Sunbeam Lake.
- The swim team will travel to their first meet on Thursday, March 11, to take on the "Brawley Wildcats" in Brawley.
- The football team will participate in their first scrimmage with Imperial High at Ward Field on Friday, March 12. Their first official league contest with Central High is scheduled for Friday, March 19.
- Girls and Boys Soccer teams started practice on February 26. Our Lady Bulldogs will take on Vincent Memorial in a Scrimmage on Saturday, March 12, and both the boy’s and girl’s teams will take on the "Brawley Wildcats" on Monday, March 15.
- The track team will see its first competitions after our return from Spring break. Their first contest is set for April 15.
- Softball and baseball will see their first league action on April 13; however, preseason games are being scheduled.
This week we also celebrated "Read Across America" check out the great site activities that took place.
The health and safety of our staff, students, and community remains our priority. We continue to provide appointments for our staff to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine as well as to monitor the latest information closely and work with our local health agencies and partners to ensure that we are doing what is in the community's best public health interest.
