Despite the session ending on March 24th, my schedule remains hectic as ever! I have been busy touring the district and working on many projects for the betterment of our great state.

Homeless Crisis Hearings

One project that I am looking forward to is my upcoming state t our in which I  will be holding hearings to address the crisis of homelessness affecting rural and urban communities across Georgia. As Chairman of the House Committee on State Planning and Community Affairs I work directly with the Department of Community Affairs that manages the state's homelessness and housing services. Sadly, 30% of homeless people in Georgia are families with children. Nearly one in five homeless persons in this state is a child under the age of 18.

The purpose of the hearings will be to study the issue of homelessness and affordable housing and identify best practices and opportunities to access additional resources that will effectively address this issue. Dates and cities have not been set to date, however, I will keep you posted once we have more information.

 May 24th Primary

As you may know, the May 24th primary is less than a week a way! Please get out and vote! I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our district in the Georgia House of Representatives, but I need your help.

I am honored to have received a number of endorsements over the last few weeks. The Georgia Chapter of National Federation of Independent Businesses has shown their support in recognition of my work in the General Assembly aimed at protecting small business owners.

I was also thrilled to receive an endorsement from the National Rifle Association as a result of my "A" rating. As an advocate of your 2nd amendment right to bear and keep arms, I am grateful for their recognition of my work on the state level.

If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to contact me at anytime. Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement. I hope to see all of you very soon!

Representative Jimmy Pruett Announces State's Plan to   Complete Public Boat Ramp in Telfair County

Atlanta, Ga. (May 16, 2016) |   Representative Jimmy Pruett announced today that the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) is working to redevelop a public boating access facility at Horse Creek Wildlife Management Area in Telfair County. Applications for all required state and federal authorizations to construct the facility have been submitted and the proposed site design is complete.

"I have been working hard in conjunction with DNR officials and Telfair County leadership to ensure the completion of this project. As a member of the House Parks & Recreation and Budget Committees, a number of meetings took place to secure needed funding," Pruett said.

Mortgage Relief for Georgia Families

Atlanta, Ga. (May 9, 2016) | Representative Jimmy Pruett is encouraging citizens of District 149 in fear of losing their home to take advantage of the Department of Community Affairs (DCA), HomeSafe Program.
HomeSafe Georgia is a statewide program designed to prevent foreclosure due to unemployment, underemployment and other types of financial hardship. There is no cost to apply and no fees if you are approved to receive funds to help pay your mortgage. Over the last 12 months, 1,418 individuals and families were approved for HomeSafe Georgia and approximately $31 million was paid to mortgage companies on behalf of homeowners during the past 12 months to help them keep their homes. The program has helped homeowners in 131 Georgia counties.

Please remember to VOTE next Tuesday, May 24th.
