Honoring Representative Kelly Moller with the Cornerstone Community Partner Award!

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, recognized every October, Artika Roller and staff at Cornerstone are delighted to award Representative Kelly Moller with the Cornerstone Community Partner Award!

Rep. Moller's tireless advocacy on behalf of survivors of domestic and sexual violence has spanned her public life and career. During her time in the state legislature, Rep. Moller was a champion for victim/survivors of domestic and sexual violence; she served as Chair of Judiciary Committee, Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee and the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committees, and served on Ways and Means, along with Judiciary Finance and Civil Law.

As her time in the legislature ends, we want to especially thank her for role in creating the Task Force on Improving Responses to Domestic Violence Crimes, which is working on a statewide policy that includes requirements for training and response, prevention, and data collection in an effort to more effectively serve those impacted by domestic violence.

Cornerstone's Executive Director, Artika Roller, shared the following about Rep. Moller: "I have personally had the honor of working alongside Kelly on groundbreaking legislation that has improved the lives of crime victims throughout the state. Her commitment to survivors, her ability to build legislative support, and her dedication to meaningful systems change have left a lasting impact on countless individuals and families."

Join us in congratulating and thanking Representative Moller!

A Night Out at the Ballpark!

Cornerstone was fortunate to participate in two important evenings at the ballpark in September. As we approach the Fall Classic, we wanted to look back and say thank you to the Minnesota Twins for hosting an impactful Domestic Violence Awareness Night and for Two Men and a Truck for providing tickets to the game for local domestic violence agencies. We were also happy to watch a late season St. Paul Saints game with our partners at Two Men and a Truck as they collected basic needs items for families impacted by violence in our community.

County Attorney Candidate Forum

The Hennepin County Attorney's leadership affects public safety, accountability, and justice throughout our community. Donor Spotlight

"I organized Ride for Hope, a motorcycling event, to raise funds for Cornerstone and will be excited to organize the same ride next year as well! I'm aware that a victim's life changes in a tragic way and would like to help in any way I can."

Current Needs

Cornerstone is celebrating Halloween on October 27th and we are in need of Halloween costumes for kids (all sizes) and fun decorations. If you would like to donate these items or have any questions, please contact Courtney at courtneyp@cornerstonemn.org.

Thank You To Our Supporters

Cornerstone is grateful for the incredible support we received in September for our Emergency Services programming! This program provides 24/7/365 support and emergency shelter to those experiencing violence or in imminent danger of violence. Our community partners who invested in this work over the last month include Wings Credit Union, Think Bank, the United Methodist Women of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, and the Greater Twin Cities United Way.

In September, we also had the opportunity to host two groups of volunteers from long-term partners in Cornerstone's work. These volunteers came from Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America and Wipfli. These groups helped get our outdoor spaces ready for fall, archived materials, and cleaned our children's play spaces just in time for cold and flu season. Cornerstone truly values these ongoing partnerships and these organizations' investment in our work building safer communities.

As we said goodbye to summer and welcomed in the new school year, the children in Cornerstone's families were able to head back to school with backpacks full of school supplies. In addition to the organizations that donated school supplies in August, we received another round of generous donations from our partners at Mainstreet Village and the Hyatt Regency Hotel by MOA to ensure the school year got off to a great start!

On September 26th, the Edina Federated Women's Club hosted a service event where they packed "welcome home" kits filled with kitchen supplies, including brand new pots and pans. These kits will be provided to individuals and families moving into new housing after leaving Cornerstone's Emergency Shelter. We are grateful for their Club's long-term partnership and investment in the families Cornerstone serves.

Every donation makes an impact on a family or individual affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, or general crime. Stand with Cornerstone to disrupt violence in our communities.
