Repentance a Healing Process
Religion turns the doctrine of repentance into an emotionally painful process filled with guilt and shame based on the fear or threat of rejection by God. However, Jesus connected repentance to a process of healing and acceptance that restored people to a place of wholeness and peace in Him.
The emotional energy it takes to live in sorrow and regret of your past failures should be spent connecting to the blessings God has for you today. The gospel isn't about your past but your present and future reality.
“Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities” (Acts 3:26).
“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19).
